Data Collected
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and asks for nothing about you. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising network, no contact form and no account.
Two things nonetheless happen when you visit, and both are named here rather than left implied. First, the hosting provider records ordinary server access logs. Second, some pages load material from other companies' servers, and loading anything from a server tells that server your IP address. What that covers, page by page, is listed below.
One thing is stored on your own device: your light/dark preference, under the key
bg-theme in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device, it is not
a cookie, and it is not sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Aruba S.p.A. (Italy), which keeps standard server access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser user-agent — for security and operational purposes. These logs are not used to build a profile of you and are not combined with anything else. Aruba Privacy Policy
Third-Party Content
Requesting a file from another company's server reveals your IP address to that company, and may allow it to set its own cookies, under its own policy rather than mine. This site keeps that surface as small as it can: the home page and every project and archive page make no third-party request at all until you press play on a video. The journals are different, and specifically so, because they are research documents that cite their sources visually.

- Map tiles: CARTO and Esri — the MANONEGRA (EARTH) journal's interactive
map draws its base layers from
basemaps.cartocdn.com(CARTO) andserver.arcgisonline.com(Esri). Panning or zooming the map requests further tiles from them. The map is not loaded until you scroll to it. CARTO Privacy Policy · Esri Privacy Statement - Cited source images — the WATER and WW Archive journals reproduce
press, institutional and research images directly from the publishers that hold them, rather
than copying them onto this server, so that each image stays attributable to its source.
That means roughly ninety images across those two journals are requested from around sixty
third-party domains, including news organisations, UN and NGO bodies, universities,
Wikimedia, Google, YouTube and X/Twitter. Each of these images is loaded only when you
scroll it into view, and each is requested with
referrerpolicy="no-referrer", so no information about which page you are reading is passed on — but the request still discloses your IP address to that domain. If you would rather not make those requests at all, do not open the WATER or WW Archive journals. - Google Fonts — used only on the MANONEGRA EARTH shop pages, which are not currently published. Outbound links throughout the site lead to third-party websites. Following one puts you under that site's own privacy policy, not this one.
Your Rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data held about you, and you may object to its processing. Because this site holds no personal data beyond the hosting provider's access logs, such a request will in practice concern those logs. Write to the address below and it will be handled.
